Hung Yen Provincial People's Council has just issued Resolution No. 52/NQ-HĐND approving the policy of establishing wards in the province in 2026. According to the resolution, it is expected to establish 36 wards on the basis of maintaining the administrative boundaries, natural area and population size of the current 36 communes.
Accordingly, the planned wards to be established include: Nghia Tru, Phung Cong, Van Giang, Me So, Kim Dong, Nguyen Van Linh, Viet Tien, Yen My, Van Lam, An Thi, Hoang Hoa Tham, Khoai Chau, Thai Thuy, Hung Ha, Long Hung, Tien Hai, Kien Xuong, Quynh Phu, Hung Phu, Dong Hung, Vu Thu, Vu Quy, Phuc, Tien Lu, Lac Dao, Tan Hung, Thai Ninh, Tien Tien, Nghia Dan, Phu Cu, Viet Yen, Hoan Long, Nguyen Trai, Xuan Truc, Chau Ninh and Trieu Viet Vuong.
According to the resolution, all 36 wards are established on the basis of the original administrative boundaries of existing communes, without adjusting the natural area and population size.
In which, Van Lam ward was established on the basis of the original status of Nhu Quynh commune, with a natural area of 27.32 km2 and a population of 86,559 people, is the locality with the largest population in the list.
Next is Yen My ward with an area of 33.11 km2, population of 69. 532 people; Hung Ha ward has an area of 38.94 km2, population of 54. 887 people; Quynh Phu ward has an area of 31.98 km2, population of 52. 076 people; Nghia Tru ward has an area of 22.79 km2, population of 51. 460 people.
In terms of area, Hung Phu ward has the largest natural area with 53.11 km2 and a population size of 25,814 people; followed by Thai Thuy ward 47.45 km2, population 51,402 people; Hung Ha ward 38.94 km2; Kien Xuong ward 36.73 km2 and Thai Ninh ward 35.40 km2.
Some wards were established on the basis of renaming commune-level administrative units including: Kim Dong ward on the basis of Luong Bang commune; Van Lam ward on the basis of Nhu Quynh commune; Phu Cu ward on the basis of Quang Hung commune. The remaining wards retain the current name of the commune.
The Resolution also assigns the Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee to organize the implementation in accordance with the provisions of law. Based on this resolution, the Provincial People's Committee will complete the dossier and Project on establishing wards in Hung Yen province in 2026 to report to the Government to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and decision.
