2 wallets storing photos of martyrs and relatives of martyrs
On July 26, Team K72 (Dong Nai City Military Command) is continuing to repatriate martyrs' remains in Minh Duc commune.
Among the locations being excavated, there is a tomb, according to initial assessment, there are 6 sets of martyrs' remains. During the exhumation process, the task force discovered many artifacts, including 2 wallets still containing photos of martyrs, relatives of martyrs and personal belongings.
Currently, the artifacts are being preserved by Team K72 according to the correct procedures to serve the verification and identification work.
On the same day, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Phong, Political Commissar of the Military Command of Dong Nai City, directly directed and inspected Team K72 to continue collecting martyrs' remains in Minh Duc commune; requested officers and soldiers of Team K72 to overcome difficulties, build high determination in the work of searching for and exhuming martyrs' remains and artifacts, and excellently complete the tasks that have been thoroughly grasped and assigned by the Party Committee, the Military Command of the city and the City Steering Committee.
Previously, on July 25, the Steering Committee of Military Region 7 and the Steering Committee of Dong Nai City on searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains organized a ceremony to deploy the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains in Minh Duc commune, Dong Nai city.
Place where martyrs' remains were discovered that had witnessed many battles
Minh Duc commune, Dong Nai city is a strategically important area, a transition zone between the Central Highlands and the plains; with a buffer zone bordering the Cambodian border.
Historically, this was an important gateway for revolutionary forces to access, deploy campaigns and supply; and at the same time, it was a key defense line that the enemy focused firepower on to prevent. In the period 1967-1975, many fierce battles of local guerrillas and key units such as: Division 7, Division 9, Regiment 201, Division 302 with the enemy took place here. Therefore, many cadres and soldiers bravely sacrificed in the resistance war against the US for national salvation on this land.
The area where martyrs' remains were discovered is located on the Northwest slope of high point 74, Dong Dau hamlet, Minh Duc commune. To the North bordering Minh Tam hamlet, to the West bordering Binh Minh hamlet, to the East bordering Binh Long ward, to the South bordering Tan Khai ward. Historically, this area has been the place where many battles of our army ambushed enemy motorized vehicles, tanks, armored vehicles and was the center of the "Search and Blockade of Minh Duc" raid by the US - Republic of Vietnam armed forces in November 1969.
Before deploying the 500-day and night Campaign, in the Minh Duc commune area, Dong Nai city, forces searched and collected 55 sets of martyrs' remains. Since deploying the 500-day and night Campaign and according to information provided by historical witnesses from July 14, 2026, the Steering Committee of Military Region 7 and the Steering Committee of Dong Nai city directed the Military Command of Dong Nai city to drastically and urgently conduct surveys, mobilize forces, vehicles, materials and equipment to expand the scope of exploration and excavation in the Minh Duc commune area. By July 20, 2026, 21 sets of martyrs' remains and many artifacts of martyrs had been discovered.
