Quang Trung campaign in Quang Tri completed, some houses built in just 24 days

Quang Tri - In just 24 days, the house for people in landslide areas during the Quang Trung Campaign was completed, handed over, and people have moved in.

In mid-November 2025, prolonged rain caused landslides, causing the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong (in hamlet 2, Khe Sanh commune, Quang Tri province) to be damaged, not ensuring safety for repair and continued living.

From the family's wishes and the dangerous situation, Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee has developed a plan to relocate and arrange resettlement to build a new house for Ms. Thuong's family.

After finding a suitable land plot in Tan Vinh village (Khe Sanh commune), on December 17, 2025, Khe Sanh commune started construction of a house for Ms. Thuong. During the construction process, Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee directed the commune's forces to closely coordinate with Division 968 to urgently focus on construction with the spirit of "3 shifts, 4 crews", "working day and night, working extra days off", "working during Tet holidays".

By January 9, 2026, after only 24 days, the house had completed construction, and the next day (January 10, 2026) Ms. Thuong's family moved in to live stably.

I still feel like I'm dreaming. Tet is not yet here, but Tet has already come to my family," Ms. Thuong said emotionally when looking at the new house still smelling of mortar. For her, the timely support of the government and soldiers is not just a roof, but also a fulcrum to start over after a natural disaster.

According to Ms. Thai Thi Nga - Chairwoman of Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee, the torrential rains and floods at the end of 2025 caused many residential areas in the area to face serious landslide risks. In Khe Sanh commune alone, heavy rain on November 16-17 caused prolonged landslides along Hung Vuong road, directly affecting 12 households. Many houses were cracked, auxiliary works collapsed, posing a risk of unsafety if not handled promptly.

Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities urgently relocated people to safe places, and at the same time proposed that the Provincial People's Committee announce the emergency situation. In a short time, Quang Tri province issued an order to build an emergency embankment project to prevent landslides, in response to the Quang Trung Campaign launched by the Prime Minister.

Khe Sanh commune authorities assigned leaders to closely monitor the scene, mobilize maximum police, military, militia and self-defense forces, and coordinate with soldiers to continuously deploy construction day and night. By December 25, 2025, the entire landslide area was safely handled, and 11 households in hamlet 3A had returned home to live stably before the planned schedule.

According to leaders of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, to ensure that the Quang Trung Campaign reaches the finish line on schedule and earlier than planned, the province has mobilized the entire political system to participate, in which the main force is the Provincial Department of Construction and Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee to closely coordinate with military units, constructing according to the motto "working day and night, working throughout holidays, Tet". The highest goal is to ensure safety for people and help people stabilize their lives soon. To date, the campaign has been successfully completed.

The completion of the Quang Trung Campaign ahead of schedule not only overcomes the consequences of natural disasters, but also demonstrates a strong change in the direction and administration of Quang Tri province after the Prime Minister's criticism, bringing complete trust and joy to people in the landslide area.

On November 30 and December 3, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch 234 and Official Dispatch 1551, directing the central provinces to urgently overcome damage after natural disasters. At the online meeting on the morning of December 9, the Prime Minister continued to request the acceleration of the "Quang Trung Campaign", urgently rebuilding and repairing houses for families whose houses were damaged by recent natural disasters. Also at this meeting, the Prime Minister criticized Quang Tri province for not deploying repairs for 12 households whose houses were heavily damaged due to the impact of storms and floods and requested the province to report.
