On October 3, the Forest Protection Department of Buon Ma Thuot - Krong Pac area (Dak Lak province) informed that the forest protection grain had just received a white-cheeked bird handed over by the people and was undergoing procedures to hand over to a specialized unit for conservation.
Previously, on the evening of October 2, a bird flew into the bedroom of a staff member at a drinking place (Le Thanh Tong Street, Buon Ma Thuot Ward).
Seeing the bird in a strange shape, the drinking place owner immediately took a photo and looked up information online. After investigation, the restaurant owner learned that this was an extremely rare white-bellied sand-beasted star fruit bird, so he reported it to the forest rangers for handling.
The white-bellied giant is scientifically named Anthracoceros albirostris, belonging to the royal Bucerotidae family. This is a wild bird species on the list of endangered, precious, and rare species that are prioritized for protection.
