During rush hour, at many intersections in Hanoi, most vehicle drivers have stopped their vehicles on the right lane, complying with traffic lights. However, there are still cases of intentionally or unintentionally going beyond the stop line, encroaching on the pedestrian path, even stopping in the left-turning and right-turning lanes.
Recently recorded at the Giai Phong - Le Duan intersection, the task force of Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 (CSGT) of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police discovered and inspected many cases of vehicles stopping improperly.
Exceeding the line due to sudden stopping", "not seeing the sign", "seeing others also encroaching, so following", "advancing to avoid the sun"... - these are the reasons that some violators presented to the working group.
In these cases, the traffic police force not only makes records and handles them according to regulations, but also explains specifically the location to stop, which sidewalks are for pedestrians and turns. Many people, after being reminded, have realized their mistakes.
The reality of PV's observation shows that just a few vehicles stopping beyond the line, the front side of the road for pedestrians quickly narrows. In other directions, vehicles stopping in the turning lane also affect the traffic flow behind, causing congestion.
Some cars just move up a little, and then the next car also moves up. When I look back, the cars are almost all standing on the pedestrian path" - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung (Tu Liem, Hanoi - a driver who often passes through the Giai Phong - Le Duan intersection) shared.
Mr. Hung said that at such times, pedestrians who want to cross the road often have to wait or go around in front of vehicles, posing a risk of accidents.
According to the Commander of Road Traffic Police Team No. 4, in the past time, the unit has regularly propagated and guided people to comply with traffic lights, road markings and traffic signal systems. However, during rush hours, there are still subjective cases, seeing others walking ahead, they follow or want to go a little further for their own convenience.
Especially on hot sunny days, motorbike and motorcycle drivers need to proactively prepare appropriate clothing to protect their health, but do not stop and park vehicles in unauthorized locations to avoid the sun. From stopping vehicles on the right line, waiting for the right lights, going in the right lane to giving way to pedestrians, small actions of each person contribute to keeping traffic intersections clear, limiting the risk of congestion and collisions, and building a safe and civilized capital traffic culture" - Commander of Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 said.
