Passengers are upset about the fare for a 2km trip
On the occasion of September 2nd, Gia Lai province welcomed a large number of tourists, concentrated in Quy Nhon beach city and destinations such as Ky Co - Eo Gio, Hon Kho, Cham towers... and some tourist destinations in the great forest area.
Although the province continuously directs to rectify service - tourism activities, improve service quality and protect tourist rights, however, the situation of collecting fees not in accordance with regulations and not listing prices still occurs, affecting tourist rights and the image of destinations.
On the evening of August 30, during the September 2nd holiday, a passenger reflected that the bus trip from Xuan Dieu street area to a hotel on Nguyen Thi Dinh street, a distance of about 2km, was charged higher than the price booked through the application.
When passengers questioned about the fare, the driver replied "open the app to see" and said that the prices in Quy Nhon are the same. At the hotel, passengers said that many people also reflected having encountered similar situations.
Passengers believe that the price of 70,000 VND for a distance of about 2km is high, while traveling by electric car from the airport to Quy Nhon center, a much longer distance, is only about 165,000 VND.
According to passengers, if fares and service quality are not controlled, the bad experiences from a bus trip may affect the image of Quy Nhon tourism.
Driver admits to collecting more than the app price
Upon receiving the reflection, the Provincial Department of Construction directed functional departments to inspect and identify the related vehicle as a car with license plate 77H-103. 20, driven by driver Le Ngoc Hung (born 1995), belonging to ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative.
Right on the morning of August 31, the Department of Construction held a meeting to handle information reflecting passenger transport activities, and at the same time rectify transport activities by taxi and contract vehicles.
At the meeting, the Director of ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative and driver Hung confirmed that at about 7:20 pm on August 30, a passenger car from Xuan Dieu street came to a hotel on Nguyen Thi Dinh street and collected 70,000 VND. This is a contract car, not a taxi.
Before the trip, the driver and passengers did not exchange or agree on the fare. The driver also did not provide complete transportation contract information to passengers, including the price.
Driver Hung admitted to collecting 70,000 VND, higher than the fare for booking trips on the application. The cooperative director and driver publicly apologized to passengers.
At the meeting, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Construction criticized the Director of ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative and the violating driver; and at the same time requested transport business units not to let the situation of vehicle shortage, squeezing, competing for passengers or refusing to transport illegally occur.
Transport units must strictly implement the declaration, listing and collection of freight rates according to regulations; do not take advantage of the increased travel demand during holidays to arbitrarily increase prices, collect additional fees outside the listed price or agreed price.
The Department of Construction will establish an inspection team to continue verifying and handling violations related to ASIA Quy Nhon Transport Cooperative and driver Hung according to regulations.
