This winter, the border area of Quoc Khanh commune, Trang Dinh district has an additional border marker inspection road, border protection road number 962 with a length of over 1,900m, the road surface is built with cement, 1.2m wide, belonging to the border section managed by Po Ma Border Guard Station (Lang Son Border Guard).

For more than 6 months, the people of 14 villages of Quoc Khanh commune, every day, from early morning, without being told, each family proactively assigned their own labor, carrying spears, shovels, knives, and hammers, and headed back to the foot of the hill. Some chopped down trees, built bridges, others carried rocks, carried cement on their shoulders, crossed steep cliffs with soldiers, built stairs, and made roads to patrol the landmarks.
Talking about the process from the time of mobilizing military strength and people's hearts until the completion of the road, Mr. Nong Van Hoi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quoc Khanh Commune - said: "Currently, the commune has 27 landmarks, including 19 main landmarks and 8 sub-landmarks with 12.5km of border line, 22 landmark patrol roads".
According to Mr. Hoi, immediately after the Border Guard force sent an open letter, local people enthusiastically contributed money, labor, and support from organizations and individuals to build solid concrete roads.
"According to preliminary statistics, people from 14 villages and hamlets in the area have taken turns contributing tens of thousands of working days, regardless of the sun or rain, to work with officers and soldiers in steep and dangerous areas. These patrol roads not only protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland but also create favorable conditions for people to travel and develop the hill and forest economy," the leader shared.
Colonel Trinh Huu Tang - Political Commissar of Lang Son Border Guard - said: "Lang Son Border Guard manages and protects over 231km of border with 474 landmarks in areas with harsh terrain and natural conditions. To reach the markers that affirm the sovereignty boundary, border guards must follow steep slopes. In fact, there have been many cases of officers and soldiers falling on the way to the markers, even sacrificing themselves in the dark while pursuing criminals.
"Since 2010, Lang Son Border Guard has directed Border Guard stations to build border marker inspection roads using production increase funds and the efforts of officers and soldiers. 34 concrete border marker inspection roads have been completed.
