On April 21, Tien Phong Newspaper coordinated with Da Nang City People's Committee to organize the Workshop "Promoting green transformation, towards an ecological and smart city".
The conference was held in a special context, the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, term 2026-2031, for the first time officially, systematically and comprehensively mentioned the concepts of digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy - and identified as the focus of new high-quality production methods.
The Resolution of the 1st Da Nang City Party Congress, term 2025-2030 sets a goal to build Da Nang city into an ecological and smart city by 2045.
At the discussion session, experts, scientists, environmental organizations, associations and businesses exchanged and proposed solutions to promote actions for the goal of building Da Nang into a green city.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Tran Nam Hung - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee said that from very early on, Da Nang city has proactively shaped a development direction based on green growth, putting people at the center, the environment as the foundation and technology as the driving force through the project "Building Da Nang - An Environmental City" from 2008.
After nearly two decades of implementation, Da Nang has gradually affirmed its position as one of the leading localities in the country in environmental protection and urban management towards green, clean and smart.
According to Mr. Hung, green transformation is opening up many great opportunities for Da Nang in attracting high-quality investment resources, developing new economic sectors such as high technology, renewable energy, green transportation, and smart cities.
In particular, the city is orienting tourism development towards green and sustainable, considering this an important spearhead to improve added value and competitiveness.
Besides, Da Nang also clearly identifies people and businesses as the center, as the subjects of the green transformation process.
The city has been and is implementing many mechanisms and policies to support businesses in innovating technology, reducing emissions, and using energy efficiently; and at the same time promoting propaganda, raising community awareness, and promoting sustainable consumption practices such as waste sorting at source, using environmentally friendly and energy-saving vehicles," Mr. Hung said.
