Sustainable development and green growth are the model chosen by many countries. At COP26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pledged to the whole world that Vietnam will aim for the Net Zero goal by 2050.
To achieve this goal, Vietnam faces many challenges. Currently, Vietnam is in the top 10 countries with the highest air pollution index in Asia and ranks 36th out of 177 countries in terms of air pollution levels. Fine dust levels in Vietnam exceed the allowable threshold by 4.9 times, especially in big cities, where air pollution levels are at a serious level.
Green transformation will also be a big challenge for businesses, as the scale of Vietnam's current green economy only accounts for about 2% of GDP, while most of the economy still relies on the traditional development model (brown economy).
In order to promote propaganda, raise social awareness of the role and importance of green and sustainable economic development, and at the same time call for the cooperation of social organizations in green transformation, tomorrow - March 28, Lao Dong Newspaper will coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to organize a series of events on Green Transformation Day 2025 with the theme "Green Transformation - Joining hands for a sustainable Vietnam".
In addition to the launching ceremony, the event series also includes discussion programs and seminars related to the fields of: green credit, green bonds; renewable energy transition; green transportation; green exports... At the events, experts, management agencies and businesses will share and propose recommendations, in order to remove policy barriers and find solutions to promote the green transition process in Vietnam.
The event is not only a call for action but also requires consensus in the green transformation process. This is an opportunity for leaders, businesses, organizations and individuals to commit and join hands to build a more sustainable future.
The Organizing Committee hopes that Green Transformation Day will become an annual program, creating a strong influence, connecting the community, businesses and the government to join hands to act for a green future.
