At about 6:05 p.m. on May 31, 2025, Command Center 114 - Hanoi City Police received a report of a rare accident that occurred in the water fountain area of a building in an urban area in Gia Lam district, Hanoi City. An 8-year-old child was trapped in a high-pressure water suction pipe.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police (PCCC&CNCH) - Gia Lam Area Group, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Hanoi City Police quickly mobilized specialized vehicles and officers and soldiers to the scene to carry out rescue work.
At the scene, the child was in a state of panic, his arm was stuck deep in the fountain's water suction pipe, causing swelling and pain. The rescue force quickly reassured the child and coordinated with the people and the building management board to carry out safe rescue measures.
After about 20 minutes of urgent efforts, using specialized tools, the rescue force carefully cut and removed the water pressure, expanded the pipeline and brought the child's hand out safely, without causing further damage. The baby was immediately handed over to his family and taken for a medical examination at the nearest facility.
