Hanoi - Hanoi City Police recommend that people proactively travel time, avoid peak hours to limit congestion when returning to the Capital.

It is forecasted that today (January 4), people will return to the Capital to study and work after the New Year holiday, causing traffic volume to increase at gateways, ring roads and main traffic axes.

During the 2026 New Year holiday, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 4 days off, from January 1st to the end of January 4th, 2026. According to forecasts, on the last day of the holiday, the number of people and vehicles from localities returning to Hanoi will increase sharply, posing a potential risk of congestion on key traffic routes.

To ensure traffic order and safety, limit congestion, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Hanoi City Police mobilized 100% of officers and soldiers to deploy plans to ensure traffic order and safety throughout the area.

On January 3rd and 4th, 2026, the Traffic Police Department coordinated with commune-level police and related units to focus forces on traffic diversion and guidance at the gateways of the Capital and key roads, ensuring smooth and safe traffic to serve people returning to the city after the holiday.

To ensure safe and convenient travel from localities to Hanoi, representatives of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department recommend that transport businesses, drivers, vehicle owners and traffic participants strictly comply with the provisions of law on traffic order and safety when traveling on national highways, expressways, inner city roads and routes to and from the Capital.

For passengers using passenger cars and public passenger transport vehicles, it is necessary to proactively book tickets early, do not take buses along the road, avoiding the risk of unsafety, being pressured on fares, and carrying more people than prescribed.

Individual vehicle drivers are advised to proactively travel time, limit going during peak hours from 8am to 10am and from 2pm to 4pm. Before departure, it is necessary to carefully check the technical condition of the vehicle, proactively build a suitable route, and regularly update traffic conditions to choose a safe direction.

The Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police requests people to seriously comply with the guidance of functional forces, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety and smooth traffic in the Capital.
