On the morning of July 17, due to prolonged heavy rain, flash floods and landslides occurred in Muong Than commune (Lai Chau province) in some villages including Ban Chit, Nam Sang, Sap Ngua and Noong Thang, causing division in many areas, affecting people's lives and travel.
At about 9 am on the same day, Muong Than Commune Police received a report about two people, Mr. Lo Van Chai (born 1993) and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai (born 1991), both residing in Chit village, being trapped in the floodwaters on the Nam Vai stream.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Muong Than Commune Police force urgently deployed rescue and relief work.
At 11:15 am, functional forces approached the scene, brought the two victims ashore safely and transferred them to the health station for examination and health care.
Also on July 17, in another area affected by floods, the Fire and Rescue Police force of Lai Chau Provincial Police quickly approached the scene, supporting the removal of 10 trapped people from the dangerous area, ensuring safety.



Faced with the complicated developments of the weather, Lai Chau Provincial Police recommends that people be vigilant during the rainy and flood season, absolutely do not pass through streams, spillways or places with strong currents to ensure safety of life and property.
