On July 17, information from Lai Chau Provincial Police said that due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, floodwaters rose, causing localized flooding on National Highway 32, passing through Ban Chit, Muong Than commune.
Along with that, many landslide points have appeared, causing traffic to be cut off, affecting people's travel and lives.

Faced with the above situation, Lai Chau Provincial Police mobilized more than 200 officers and soldiers to participate in disaster response.
The reinforced force includes about 60 officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Department, 30 officers and soldiers of the Fire and Rescue Police Department, 20 officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police Department, along with commune police and local forces.
Immediately after arriving at the scene, the forces supported people to relocate people and property to safe places; used drones, life jackets and specialized vehicles and equipment to approach isolated areas, ready to deploy rescue and relief work when necessary.
In parallel with rescue work, functional forces organize traffic diversion and set up warning posts in deep flooded areas and landslide-prone points to ensure safety for people and vehicles.

According to initial records, heavy rain caused flash floods and landslides at many locations on National Highway 32, including Km356, Km357, Km359, Km361 and Km362, passing through the communes of Pac Ta and Muong Than, causing the road to be completely blocked.
Currently, Traffic Police Team No. 3, Traffic Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police is coordinating with the Police of communes and road management units to continue to organize traffic diversion and regulation, install warning signs, and prevent people and vehicles from entering dangerous areas.
At the same time, functional forces urgently deploy measures to overcome the consequences, ensure traffic safety and support people to soon stabilize their lives.
Lai Chau Provincial Police said they will continue to maintain a 24/7 on-duty force, closely monitor the area, proactively deploy disaster response plans, and be ready to support people to minimize damage caused by floods.
Functional forces also recommend that people absolutely do not intentionally move through deeply flooded roads, fast-flowing water, spillways or areas at high risk of landslides to ensure safety.
