As Lao Dong reported, at around 9:30 a.m. on May 21, a large explosion occurred in the coating area - a stage in the magnetic magnet equipment production line of SGI Vina Company (Bac Chu Lai Industrial Park, Tam Hiep Commune, Nui Thanh District, Quang Nam), injuring 12 workers.

According to Quang Nam Central General Hospital, among the 12 injured workers, one person suffered severe burns of 6070% of the body area and had the doctor's treatment of the burns, relieving the pain and preventing suffocation.
The patient has not yet overcome the critical stage and has been transferred to Da Nang for further intensive treatment, according to the family's wishes. The remaining workers suffered minor burns and multiple soft tissue injuries, and are now stable, 8 people have been discharged home.

A worker working at the factory said that at the time of the explosion, she was working in a closed room, away from the coating area, but still heard a loud explosion that shook the entire factory.
"After the explosion, people ran over and saw their belongings scattered everywhere. I saw many people screaming and running out from the coating area, in a state of severe burns. Some people had burns all over their bodies, said Ms. T., a worker directly employed at the SGI Vina factory.
According to Ms. T., the victims were given first aid on the spot by the company's medical department and then transferred directly to Quang Nam Central General Hospital.

The day after the incident, Quang Nam Police blocked off the entire area inside the coating factory, actively coordinated with relevant units to examine the scene and collect evidence to clarify the cause of the incident.
On the same afternoon, leaders of Quang Nam province visited and encouraged the victims. SGI Vina Company also committed to paying all treatment costs and implementing necessary support policies for the victims.
