On the afternoon of May 21, the leader of the People's Committee of Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province confirmed that a serious explosion occurred on the same morning at the SGI Magnetic Magnetic Magnet factory (belonging to SGI VINA Company Limited, located in Bac Chu Lai Industrial Park, Tam Hiep commune, Nui Thanh district) injuring 12 workers, including 1 person with severe burns.

Initial information, the explosion occurred at around 9:30 a.m. Immediately afterwards, Tam Hiep Commune Police and functional forces were present at the scene, supporting the victims in taking them to the emergency room.
Quang Nam Central General Hospital said that the hospital received 12 patients who are workers of SGI VINA. Of which, one person with severe burns of 60-70% is being actively treated in the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department. Three other patients suffered minor burns and soft tissue injuries and are being treated at the Trauma Surgery Department, the remaining 8 patients suffered minor multiple injuries due to fainting and heat pressure and were treated and discharged from the hospital.
A leader of the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Quang Nam province informed that the initial cause was determined to be due to machinery blasting during operation.
It is known that SGI VINA Company Limited was established in 2022, a 100% Korean magnet manufacturing enterprise with a total investment of more than VND 2,680 billion. The factory currently has about 300 workers, with an average income of 9 - 10 million VND/month.
The specific cause of the explosion is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
