On the afternoon of May 21, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung directly visited Quang Nam Central General Hospital to visit and encourage workers injured in the explosion at SGI Vina Factory (Bac Chu Lai Industrial Park, Tam Hiep Commune, Nui Thanh District).
The explosion occurred at around 9:30 a.m. the same day, in the coating area of the magnet factory of SGI Vina Co., Ltd. The accident caused 12 workers to suffer burns, including 1 case of severe burns from 60-70% of the body area, and are being actively treated. Three other workers are continuing to monitor, while eight have been discharged from the hospital.
At the visit, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee kindly encouraged the victims, and at the same time presented 5 million VND in support to those who were seriously injured and 2 million VND to each lightly injured worker.
Mr. Tran Nam Hung suggested that the leaders of SGI Vina Company urgently implement all policies, provide timely support to the injured workers and seriously review and tighten labor safety work in the entire factory.
SGI Vina representative pledged to pay all treatment costs and develop appropriate support policies to ensure the rights of affected workers.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the explosion.
