Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper on the afternoon of July 18, Mr. Dang Van Tay Lo - Chairman of Vam Co Commune People's Committee (Tay Ninh province) - said that the Department of Home Affairs, Tay Ninh province has issued a decision recognizing Ms. Nguyen Thi Le (80 years old) as the wife of martyr Huynh Van Quen.
Before the decision was issued, the People's Committee of Vam Co commune coordinated with relevant agencies to review and supplement dossiers according to regulations.
The locality also organized a meeting with the Huynh family to get opinions on the relationship between Mrs. Nguyen Thi Le and martyr Huynh Van Quen. The meeting was attended by elderly people, clan elders and direct relatives of the martyr.
According to the Chairman of Vam Co Commune People's Committee, after considering the information and exchanging, family members unanimously confirmed that Ms. Nguyen Thi Le is the wife of martyr Huynh Van Quen. Six direct relatives and family representatives have signed confirmations on the dossier including Ms. Huynh Thi Sanh, Mr. Huynh Van Chin, Ms. Huynh Thi Le, Mr. Huynh Van Muoi, Mr. Huynh Van Nho and Mr. Le Van Xem.
Mr. Dang Van Tay Lo said that the family's consensus is one of the bases for the locality to complete the dossier and submit it to competent authorities for consideration according to regulations.
According to the People's Committee of Vam Co commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le's case has many specific factors. During the resistance war, Ms. Le and martyr Huynh Van Quen had not registered their marriage, had not lived together as husband and wife, and she had not returned to live with the martyr's family.
About 10 years ago, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le had filed a request to be considered for benefits for the wife of a martyr but had not completed it according to the instructions of the functional agency.
