In mid-June, despite erratic sunny and rainy weather, the construction atmosphere at the Dai Ngai 1 bridge construction site across the Hau River, connecting Vinh Long province with Can Tho city, is still extremely urgent.
At the construction sites, hundreds of engineers and workers are working diligently, taking advantage of favorable weather to speed up the progress of key traffic projects in the Mekong Delta region.

According to representatives of the contractor consortium Deo Ca Group, package 15-XL for the construction of Dai Ngai 1 bridge and approach roads at both ends of the bridge is worth about VND 3,868 billion, started in December 2024 and is expected to be completed in June 2028. Currently, the construction site has mobilized about 350 engineers and workers along with 90 machines and equipment, simultaneously deploying 26 construction fronts. To date, the actual output has reached about VND 2,289 billion, equivalent to 63% of the total volume. Many important items are closely following, even exceeding the set schedule.
In which, the approach bridge spans have completed 100% of drilled piles, pier bases and Super-T beams, expected to be completed in 2026. Regarding the main cable-stayed bridge section from pier P21 to P26, all foundation items have been completed. Construction of the pier body and bridge tower is being accelerated, and the tower body is expected to be completed in April 2027. The main span steel beam system is being processed at the factory; the installation of K0 steel beam burning is expected to start from March 2027. The imported cable-stayed cable system is also being synchronously produced to serve the installation and tensioning according to the plan.

Also according to the construction unit, the project is built in the downstream area of the Hau River with complex geological and hydrological conditions, requiring high technical requirements. To ensure quality and progress, the contractor has mobilized modern equipment, organized many parallel construction teams and applied strict management solutions.
On June 14, during an inspection of key transport projects in the Southern region, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh inspected the construction progress of Dai Ngai 1 bridge. The Minister acknowledged the efforts of the investor, Project Management Board and contractors in overcoming difficulties in geology, hydrology and material sources to ensure project progress.

The Minister requested units to continue to focus resources and research appropriate technical solutions to shorten the progress by about 6 months, striving to clear the route in 2027.
This is an urgent task. Construction units, Project Management Boards and localities need to coordinate smoothly, focus on removing obstacles, and accelerate progress to complete the project soon," the Minister emphasized.
The Dai Ngai bridge construction investment project has a total investment of nearly 8,000 billion VND, invested by Project Management Board 85. The project has a total length of more than 15km, passing through Vinh Long province and Can Tho city, including two main items: Dai Ngai 1 bridge and Dai Ngai 2 bridge. When completed, the project will contribute to completing the strategic traffic axis in the East of the Mekong Delta region, shortening travel time between localities, reducing the load on National Highway 1 and creating motivation for socio-economic development for the entire region.
