On June 2, the authorities of Hau Giang province (including the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Hau Giang Provincial Police) organized a team to inspect a pig slaughterhouse in Long Thanh commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province.
Mr. Ha Huu Tam - Manager of the slaughter facility, CP Company in Hau Giang said that the images posted on social networks have greatly affected CP Company.
Regarding the image on March 26, 2022 posted and circulating online, Mr. Ha Huu Tam said that this was a photo taken at the Dung - Nga slaughterhouse, to save the Veterinary report. When discovering pigs that were not clean like normal pigs, not guaranteed to be brought to the market, the slaughterhouse side coordinated with the company and the Veterinary side to handle them.
Accordingly, on the same day, all 3 sides signed a document deciding to destroy the pigs in the kiln by cooking them and changing the purpose of use to give the pigs to the fish to eat.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cuong, representative of the Dung - Nga slaughterhouse (Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province) said that the facility does not export pigs to Soc Trang. And the facility always strictly ensures the slaughter process according to the company's requirements.
Regarding the photo of the pigs being sick and spreading on social networks, Mr. Nguyen Chi Cuong informed that it could be because the company's employees took poor quality pig photos and reported them to the company to request an cancellation.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cuong added that during the process of handling pigs for CP Company, the imported pigs had no signs of leather, but during the slaughter, pigs were discovered leathered. The images on social networks were taken to report to CP Company for destruction, not to supply to Soc Trang and the facility did not supply goods to Soc Trang at all.
According to the investigation, the Dung - Nga facility, owned by Ms. Tran Thi Nga, is gathering about 500 pigs from the Republic of Vietnam. On average, the facility slaughters about 30-40 pigs/day. The slaughter area alone is about 500m2 wide.
On the same afternoon, the inspection team continued to inspect the Department of slaughter of cattle and poultry concentrated on the large table of Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province.
