The two sides need to make good use of the existing economic and trade consultation mechanism, in the spirit of equality and mutual respect, to jointly aim for mutually beneficial results. Mr. Xi Jinping emphasized that China is ready for dialogue with goodwill, but is also steadfast in its principles.
The General Secretary and President of China affirmed that Beijing always respects and seriously implements the commitments made. Regarding the issue of Taiwan (China), General Secretary and President Xi Jinping emphasized that the US side needs to handle it cautiously, avoiding allowing the breakaway forces pursuing "Independent Taiwan" to lure China and the US into a state of confrontation, even conflict.
President Donald Trump expressed his deep respect for General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and emphasized the importance of US-China relations. He said the US hopes for China's economy to develop well and believes that the two countries, if they cooperate, can achieve many great achievements.
The US president affirmed that Washington will adhere to the "One China" policy. He appreciated the results of the meeting in Geneva, saying that this was a great success and pledged that the US side would work with China to implement this agreement.
