Reduce costs by 30-40% thanks to autonomous robots
On December 11, Viettel Logistics Park in Lang Son with a total investment of 3,300 billion VND was officially inaugurated.
The project covers over 143 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 3,300 billion VND, about 5 km from the Vietnam - China border.
Talking about the reason Viettel implemented this project, Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh - General Director of Viettel Post said that currently, Vietnamese agricultural products are having to bear too many costs.
According to statistics, the total waiting time for the wharf and declaration in Vietnam usually takes 2-3 days and in China it also takes 2-3 days, for a total of 4-5 days.
For example, Mr. Thanh shared that a truck carrying durian grown in the Central Highlands or the Mekong Delta worth 2-3 billion VND/truck must incur a logistics cost of 70-100 million VND/truck.
Trucks carrying dragon fruit and watermelon, when devalued by only about 200-300 million VND/truck, also bear similar logistics costs.
"The high logistics costs always make Viettel think about joining hands with businesses to solve the problem," said a leader of Viettel Post.
According to Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh, when applying technology, robots, self-driving cars, transport management, and smart gates, storage costs will be reduced by 30-40%.
“Viettel Logistics Park can handle customs clearance of up to 1,500 vehicles/day, contributing to doubling the customs clearance capacity at Lang Son border gate compared to the present,” Mr. Thanh added.
Will make smart gates, express delivery by autonomous robots
Viettel Post leaders also informed that the corporation is currently coordinating with Chinese partners to cooperate in technology, calculate business plans, promote exhibition centers, trade and livestream agricultural products.
Lang Son Logistics Park has planned about 8 hectares to be used as a future railway station, supporting sudden increases in cargo volume. In addition to the wharf, the park also has dormitories, restaurants, and a maintenance garage system.
Viettel Logistics Park has a smart gate that separates vehicles, processes images and recognizes license plates, container codes, and driver biometrics using AI, increasing the speed of vehicle processing and customs clearance.
The e-commerce and express delivery processing area uses autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs). In particular, autonomous delivery drones are also applied.
Information and data will help forces such as border guards, customs, and quarantine control information, ensure network security, and data confidentiality.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board said that the Viettel Logistics Park in Lang Son, when put into operation, is expected to help reduce the load on existing warehouses and yards and reduce congestion on National Highway 1 during peak import and export times.
