In order to serve the people to have fun and celebrate the New Year 2026 safely and civilized, especially during the Countdown program and fireworks display on the night of December 31, Hanoi City Police proactively and synchronously deployed plans to ensure security, order, and traffic safety throughout the area.
From 1:00 PM on December 31, 2025, the Road Traffic Police Teams (CSGT) under the Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police simultaneously launched operations in key routes and areas, focusing on traffic diversion and guidance, ready to handle arising situations, ensuring smooth traffic for people participating in entertainment activities during the New Year holiday.
Traffic diversion early, limiting congestion in the central area
According to the plan of the Hanoi People's Committee, the city will organize fireworks displays for 15 minutes, from 11:45 PM on December 31, 2025 to 0:00 AM on January 1, 2026, at 5 locations with 6 battlefields. At the same time, on the evening of December 31, the "Hanoi Countdown 2026" Program will also take place, starting from 7:00 PM at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Dinh Tien Hoang street (Hoan Kiem ward).
To ensure traffic safety in the central area, traffic police teams have coordinated with relevant functional units to organize remote traffic diversion, guide vehicles to move according to appropriate routes, limit vehicles entering the event area, and avoid prolonged congestion.
At the gateways of the Capital, the traffic police force coordinates with the commune-level police and the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security to focus on regulating traffic on key expressway and national highway access routes.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Chien - Head of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6, this year the New Year holiday is prolonged, people's travel demand is increasing, from the early afternoon of December 31st, the volume of vehicles on routes heading to the expressway has increased sharply.
Faced with that situation, the unit proactively arranged forces early, closely coordinated with the Traffic Police Department and local teams to organize traffic diversion and regulation, minimizing the risk of prolonged congestion.
24/24 surveillance with AI cameras, strictly control alcohol concentration violations
At the Traffic Command Center, Hanoi City Police maintain a 24/24 hour on-duty force, closely monitoring traffic conditions through an AI camera system connected throughout the city.
The camera system allows monitoring vehicle traffic in real time, promptly detecting congestion or other traffic situations for handling.
During the Countdown night and fireworks display, AI cameras play the role of "magic eyes", supporting remote traffic command, contributing to keeping traffic flowing smoothly and minimizing the risk of congestion and accidents.

In parallel with traffic diversion, the traffic police force strengthens patrols, controls, and strictly handles violations that are direct causes of congestion and traffic accidents.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Vuong Dang Cuong - Head of Road Traffic Police Team No. 7, the unit will maintain alcohol concentration control before, during and after the New Year holiday, resolutely handle violations, contribute to traffic accident prevention, and ensure safety for people to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet.

In addition, traffic police units promote propaganda and remind people to strictly comply with the provisions of law when participating in traffic; do not stop or park vehicles illegally; do not gather on the road; and strictly implement regulations on fire and explosion prevention and control during events and fireworks display activities.
The early and synchronous implementation of plans to ensure traffic order and safety has contributed to maintaining security and order, creating conditions for the Capital's people to celebrate the New Year in 2026 in a joyful, safe and civilized atmosphere.
