According to records, at about 7:20 PM on December 31, the N2 overpass branch (connecting vehicles from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway access road to the Mai Chi Tho road axis) officially opened to traffic, allowing vehicles to circulate.
Previously, in the afternoon of the same day, the construction unit urgently cleaned the bridge surface, completed the stretcher, painted the road and the final technical items to ensure safe traffic conditions.
Representatives of the contractor, Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 18, said that in the past time, the unit has mobilized maximum manpower and equipment, and organized continuous construction in many shifts to complete the bridge branch on schedule.
The opening of branch N2 on the evening of December 31 is the result of the process of closely following the scene, promptly handling technical problems, and closely coordinating with the investor and related units to ensure absolute safety for the project before putting it into operation.
According to the contractor representative, immediately after opening to traffic, the unit will continue to monitor and review technical details, organize sanitation, improve the landscape and supplement the system of signs and road markings according to standards.
The branch of overpass N2 belonging to bidding package XL11 plays an important role, when put into operation, this item helps separate the flow of vehicles from the expressway to the city center, reducing traffic conflicts in the An Phu intersection area - a traffic congestion hotspot that has lasted for many years.
Opening to traffic on the last day of 2025 not only contributes to improving the travel situation of people during the peak period of the year and the upcoming Lunar New Year, but is also considered an important step in the roadmap to complete the entire An Phu intersection, one of the key traffic projects of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, after the N2 bridge branch is completed, the HC1-02 underpass is expected to be put into operation before January 15, 2026; the entire An Phu intersection project strives to be completed in 2026.
The An Phu traffic intersection construction project has a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND, the scale is a three-story completed level crossing. The project includes the intersection area between the expressway access road and Mai Chi Tho street and the intersection area of Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong street. The road section has a cross-section of 10-12 lanes; a four-lane underpass running in two directions; each overpass branch arranges two lanes.
