HCMC - The first phase of the opening of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa and Hoang Hoa Tham connecting roads will help reduce traffic congestion in the Tan Son Nhat airport area.

At noon on January 23, the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Traffic Works of Ho Chi Minh City put into operation phase 1 of the project to expand Hoang Hoa Tham Street and the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa.

The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project officially opened a 1.25 km long section (from Phan Thuc Duyen underpass to Hoang Hoa Tham street) out of a total length of more than 4 km.

The 4-lane overpass in front of Tan Son Nhat Airport's T3 terminal project has also been put into use.

After opening to traffic, this route will create a new traffic direction from Phan Thuc Duyen Street to Cong Hoa Street, reducing the load on Lang Cha Ca roundabout and Cong Hoa Street.

The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project will start construction at the end of 2022, with a total investment of more than 4,800 billion VND.

The main route is more than 4 km long, from 25 - 48 m wide with 6 lanes, connecting two branches of 18E and C2 roads from 3-4 lanes wide.

In addition to the overpass in front of T3 station, the project also includes two underpasses at major intersections: Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen and Truong Chinh - Tan Ky Tan Quy.

When completed, the entire route will directly connect to Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport (expected to be operational on April 30, 2025), opening more access to the airport and breaking the monopoly at the entrance on Truong Son Street.
