On December 30, in the area near Truong Chinh Street - the end point of the project, many households demolished their houses to hand over the land. In this section, there are still 68 households that have not completed the land clearance, affecting the progress of package 13.
This package includes the construction of roads, retaining walls, sidewalks, drainage and the widening of Truong Chinh Street at the end of the route. Currently, the workload of package 13 has only reached 70%.
The investor expects to complete the package by the end of February 2025, provided that Tan Binh district completes the handover of the site at least two months in advance.
In the middle of the project, the overpass in front of Tan Son Nhat airport's T3 terminal has completed its structure, is installing railings and paving the bridge surface.
The bridge is 988 m long, 17 m wide with 4 lanes. Underneath the bridge, workers and machines are rolling the ground and spreading crushed stone to prepare for asphalt paving.
Previously, the underpass at the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection (package 9) opened to traffic on August 10, 2024.
The section from Thang Long - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection to 18E road is more than 600 m long and about 500 m from 18E road leading to Cong Hoa road (package 10) was opened to traffic in early November 2024.
The operation of these two packages has contributed to reducing traffic congestion at Lang Cha Ca roundabout and improving the entrance and exit to Tan Son Nhat airport area.
According to the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Ho Chi Minh City (Traffic Board), the entire Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project has reached about 88% of the volume.
Initially, Ho Chi Minh City set a target of opening the entire route to traffic by December 31, 2024. However, due to delays in site clearance, the opening date had to be postponed to the end of February 2025.
To ensure progress, the Traffic Committee proposed that the People's Committee of Tan Binh District urgently hand over the land to the remaining 68 households.
At the same time, Tan Binh district needs to speed up the dredging of the A41 canal to synchronously connect the drainage system of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project, ensuring drainage capacity when T3 station comes into operation (expected April 30, 2025).
Construction started at the end of 2022, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project is more than 4 km long, with a total investment of more than 4,800 billion VND.
This is a completely new route, starting from the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection and ending at the C12 - Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh intersection.
The main road is 25 m to 48 m wide, with 6 lanes, and two connecting roads with 3 to 4 lanes wide.
On the route, there is an overpass in front of station T3 and two underpasses at the major intersections of Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen and Truong Chinh - Tan Ky Tan Quy.
When completed, this route will connect directly to Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3, opening up additional access to the airport and reducing traffic pressure at the main entrance on Truong Son Street.
