Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road
Construction started at the end of 2022, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project aims to connect Tan Son Nhat airport's T3 terminal, breaking the monopoly of the only airport entrance on Truong Son street.
The entire route is 4 km long, starting at the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection; ending at the intersection of C12 - Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh streets.
Ho Chi Minh City had set a target of opening the entire route to traffic by December 31, 2024. However, to date, only the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection tunnel and the section from this intersection to 18E Street, which is more than 600 m long, and about 500 m from 18E Street leading to Cong Hoa Street, have been completed and opened to traffic.
According to the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Ho Chi Minh City, on January 20, 2025, the section from 18E Street to Hoang Hoa Tham Street will be opened to traffic.
The remaining section (from Hoang Hoa Tham to the end of the route) will be open to traffic before April 30, 2025 due to site clearance issues, provided the site is handed over before February 20, 2025.
This section is currently stuck with 68 households. A representative of Tan Binh District People's Committee said that there are currently 22 cases that are partially affected and have not agreed to the compensation plan. According to the plan, before Tet, Tan Binh District will complete the demolition and hand over the site of 46 cases that have agreed to the compensation and resettlement support plan to implement the construction.
For the remaining 22 cases on the frontage and alleys 111, 119, 116 Tran Van Du street, the district will increase contact and mobilize households to hand over the premises to the Traffic Department by the end of February 2025.
Duong Quang Ham Street
The project to expand Duong Quang Ham Street (Go Vap District) is nearly 2.5 km long, connecting Go Vap Cultural Park to the railway adjacent to Binh Thanh District.
The road was widened from 6m to 32m, with 6 traffic lanes. The total investment is over 2,300 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance accounts for over 1,926 billion VND.
Started in April 2020, the project had to be suspended after only 4 months due to incomplete site clearance. It was not until September 2023 that the project was restarted when Go Vap district handed over part of the site.
According to the Traffic Department, the project is still facing difficulties because many electric poles and telecommunication cables have not been relocated.
The section from Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School to An Nhon Cultural House has been paved and is temporarily open to traffic. However, because the electric poles are still located between the existing road and the extension, the Traffic Department has installed barriers, painted warning signs and arranged flashing lights to ensure traffic safety.
The two sections from Luong Ngoc Quyen Street to Nguyen Viet Xuan Primary School (520 m) and the section from An Nhon Cultural House to Nguyen Van Luong Street (295 m) are still new routes and not yet open to traffic.
The Traffic Department said that to reduce traffic pressure and facilitate people during the 2025 Lunar New Year, these sections will be temporarily opened to traffic on January 20, 2025. The lighting system and steel dividers will be fully installed to ensure safety.
The project is expected to complete phase 2 (entire cross-section) on April 30, 2025, on condition that the electricity industry must withdraw all electricity poles before March 30, 2025.
