According to Lao Dong's records, from about 9 am on February 13 (ie December 26th of the lunar calendar), Mien Tay Bus Station (An Lac ward) was crowded with people. Passengers crowded the waiting hall, ticket counter, and boarding gate.
Especially, at the ticket counter and waiting hall of Phuong Trang bus company, the crowded situation reached its peak. Long lines of people lined up to get on the bus, the sound of flight announcements rang out continuously. Many passengers had to wait because there were no empty seats left.

Holding a small child, carrying a bag of bulky luggage in the crowd, Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan (34 years old, from Ca Mau) said he went to the bus station early because he predicted that the number of passengers would increase.
It was predicted to be crowded, so I went out early, but there were too many people, and the weather was hot, so the children were tired and slept on their shoulders. It was hard, but only once a year did I go home for Tet, so everyone tried their best," Mr. Tuan shared.

Outside the bus station, the entrance area recorded passenger cars continuously leaving the station. On Kinh Duong Vuong street, functional forces were on duty to regulate traffic, but localized congestion still occurred.

At the same time, on National Highway 1 (section from Binh Dien bridge towards the Mekong Delta provinces), streams of motorbikes carrying bulky luggage lined up for a long time. At many times, vehicles moved slowly, even stopped completely.

In the area leading to the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, the situation is also not more optimistic. Private cars and passenger cars line up in two long rows waiting to enter the expressway, causing traffic pressure at the western gateway of Ho Chi Minh City to increase during the peak of the 26th Tet holiday.

The travel route to the Mekong Delta provinces reduced congestion.
- Route 1: Binh Dien Bridge → Nguyen Huu Tri → Tan Tuc → Binh Thuan - Cho Dem → Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway (or straight → Le Kha Phieu - National Highway 1) → Mekong Delta provinces.
- Route 2: Cho Dem Bridge → Nguyen Huu Tri → Bui Thanh Khiet Binh Thuan - Cho Dem → Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway (or straight → Le Kha Phieu - National Highway 1) → Mekong Delta provinces.
- Route 3: Vo Tran Chi → Binh Thuan - Cho Dem → Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway → Mekong Delta provinces (or → Bui Thanh Khiet → Le Kha Phieu - National Highway 1 → Mekong Delta provinces).
- Route 4: Nguyen Van Linh → Binh Thuan - Cho Dem → Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway → western provinces; or → Tan Tuc (Bui Thanh Khiet) → Le Kha Phieu (National Highway 1) → western provinces.
