Faced with the above situation, on January 26 (ie 27th of Lunar New Year At Ty), the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security issued a recommendation that drivers limit and may temporarily stop traveling on roads where freezing snow causes slippery conditions and makes it difficult to control their vehicles.
The Traffic Police Department said that during the Lunar New Year holidays, many localities in the Northern provinces will continuously experience cold air waves from the North, causing the temperature to drop sharply, the sky to be foggy, and visibility to be limited. If the temperature continues to drop, it could lead to the risk of frost appearing in many places.
"Driving on mountain passes is already dangerous, now there is fog, even ice and snow, making traveling on these roads potentially dangerous for traffic accidents," according to a representative of the Traffic Police Department.
To ensure traffic safety and avoid unfortunate traffic accidents, the Traffic Police Department recommends that tourists who intend to go see snow and ice during this Tet holiday should carefully check their vehicles and plan their route before departure;
It is necessary to ensure good health and alertness when driving; when traveling on steep, curvy, slippery mountainous roads with limited visibility, the driver needs to pay attention, reduce speed, drive at low speed even when going up and downhill, turn on fog lights, low beam lights, use low gear (if the vehicle uses a manual transmission), and be careful not to continuously brake unless in an emergency situation.
Be extremely careful if the weather is bad, the road is icy, slippery, or foggy, and pay special attention to the following issues: You should limit and possibly stop driving when the road is icy or slippery. Because the vehicle safety system, especially the tires in Vietnam, are not suitable for driving on icy roads.
"Absolutely obey the traffic commander's orders" - the representative of the Traffic Police Department emphasized.
