According to the Project Management Board and Land Fund Development of Ninh Kieu District (Can Tho City), it is expected that by the end of 2024 and in 2025, more than 10 roads in the central area will be upgraded due to damaged road surfaces, low roadbeds, and degraded sewer systems, contributing to synchronizing and thoroughly solving the flooding situation in the central area, serving the travel needs of the people.
It is expected that by the end of 2024, the road connecting Lo Mo Street to Tran Nam Phu Street (phase 1) will be upgraded and expanded, with a total length of about 795m, a total investment of more than 48.56 billion VND; upgrading 30/4 Street (from Mau Than Street to Tran Van Hoai Street) with an investment scale, upgrading and renovating the traffic road with a total length of about 450m, a road width of 26m (according to current status), auxiliary items, other technical infrastructure such as renovating the median strip, surface drainage system, paving sidewalks and other upgrading and renovation works... with a total investment of more than 10.92 billion VND.
Upgrading Nguyen Trai Street (section from Cai Khe Bridge to Hung Vuong Roundabout), Phan Dang Luu Street (section from Hung Vuong Street to Bui Thi Xuan Street) and some roads in Cai Khe Commercial Center with the aim of overcoming and limiting flooding during rain and high tides...
Investment in upgrading Nguyen Trai Street (section from Cai Khe Bridge to Hung Vuong Roundabout), Tran Quang Khai Street, Ung Van Khiem Street, Phan Dang Luu Street (section from Hung Vuong Street to Bui Thi Xuan Street) and some internal roads of Cai Khe Commercial Center, with a total length of about 1.47km (including raising the road height and asphalt pavement, renovating the drainage system, replacing high-pressure sodium lamps with LED lighting and some other works)... with a total investment of more than 20.9 billion VND.
With a length of about 525m, Tran Van Hoai Street is upgraded and expanded. Auxiliary items and technical infrastructure such as sidewalks, drainage systems on both sides of the road, wastewater drainage, additional tree planting and other upgrading and renovation works... with an estimated construction value of more than 39.56 billion VND.
In 2025, the Ninh Kieu District Project Management and Land Fund Development Board plans to start 5 more projects, with a total estimated investment of about 151 billion VND. These are the project to upgrade Luong Dinh Cua Street; upgrade and repair Tam Vu Street; upgrade 30/4 Street (from Tran Van Hoai Street to Nguyen Van Linh Street); upgrade 30/4 Street (from Nguyen Van Linh Street to Dau Sau Bridge); upgrade roads in Thoi Nhut Residential Area.
Currently, Ninh Kieu district is focusing on site clearance and selecting contractors for the Project to renovate and expand 5 key traffic intersections in Can Tho city; thereby creating conditions to start the project phase 1 (renovation and expansion of intersections No. 1 and No. 4) at the end of 2024, completing it at the end of 2025 to solve traffic congestion in the city center during rush hour. These are the 2 intersections that are most frequently congested among the 5 intersections during rush hour.
Five key intersections will be renovated and expanded in Can Tho City, including: intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3/2 - Tran Hung Dao), intersection No. 2 (Mau Than - Nguyen Van Cu - Vo Van Kiet), intersection No. 3 (Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Van Cu), intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3/2), intersection No. 5 (Nguyen Van Linh - 30/4).
Of which, intersections No. 1 and No. 4 of the Project have a land area of about 6.1 hectares; about 160 households and organizations are affected (intersection No. 1 has about 112 households and 10 organizations; intersection No. 4 has about 38 households. The estimated compensation and support cost of the 2 intersections is about 801.83 billion VND (intersection No. 1 is more than 698.83 billion VND and intersection No. 4 is about 103 billion VND).
