Can Tho - The residential roads along both sides of Hung Loi bridge (Ninh Kieu district) are muddy and full of potholes, causing many difficulties for people every time they travel.
Video recorded the muddy residential road along both sides of Hung Loi bridge, full of potholes on the afternoon of October 23.
According to the reporter's records, the residential road along both sides of Hung Loi bridge (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) is muddy, slippery, and full of potholes, making it difficult for people to travel back and forth. The road is only about 200m long but the road surface is badly damaged, full of deep water holes.People driving vehicles must move very slowly, staying close to the narrow road to avoid potholes. There is a school near this road. The damaged and degraded road makes it difficult for parents and students to get around after school, especially on rainy days.A woman selling goods on the side of the road said that this stretch of road is dusty on sunny days, and anyone passing by must wear a mask or cover their face with their hands. On rainy days, the road is muddy, mud splashes on passersby’s clothes, and accidents often occur.“There was an accident here last night. A man was taking his two children home from extra classes. When they came to a pothole with water in it, they couldn't see it and fell down,” the woman added.Regarding the above issue, at the regular press conference for the third quarter of 2024 on October 15, Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Can Tho City - informed: Previously, the Nguyen Van Linh road and Hung Loi bridge project were invested by the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport). However, the Hung Loi bridge residential road arose later, and during the handover process, this road section was not handed over to the city for management. The city has repeatedly requested the Ministry of Transport to hand over this road section to the city as soon as possible, because only when it is handed over will there be a legal basis to allocate funds for upgrading, maintaining and repairing. However, due to problems with handover procedures, this has not been done yet.“Most recently, the city has coordinated with the management unit to hand over the residential road of Hung Loi bridge on the Cai Rang district side. For the residential road of Hung Loi bridge on the Ninh Kieu district side, the city will request approval to immediately arrange investment capital for upgrading, and the documents and procedures for handover will be handled later,” said Mr. Khoa.According to Mr. Khoa, the city will soon deploy in the fourth quarter to complete the procedures for receiving and upgrading this road section to ensure traffic safety and urban beauty.
