Mr. Dang Van Thanh - Vice Chairman of Cam Due Commune People's Committee - said that at around 9:30 this morning (October 9), the engineering force dug and lifted the bomb out of the ground and transported it to the destruction site in Thach Ngoc Commune (Thach Ha District), to destroy it according to regulations.
This bomb was discovered by the construction unit of the embankment to prevent landslides on the Ngan Mo River near Cho Vuc Bridge (in Phuong Tru village, Cam Due commune) on the afternoon of October 7 while digging the riverbank to carry out the embankment project.
Immediately afterwards, the information was reported to local authorities and functional forces for a handling plan. The bomb weighed an estimated 400kg.
According to Mr. Thanh, in 2021, a bomb was also discovered in this area after heavy rains and floods caused erosion.
During the war, the US dropped many bombs on this Cho Vuc bridge area. Therefore, local people are concerned that there are still bombs left here.
Since then, people have wanted the authorities to carry out a thorough bomb and mine clearance program in this area to avoid potential dangers when bombs remain in this residential area.
