From August 1, 2025, ticket prices for metro line No. 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong and line 3.1 Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station will be adjusted.
Accordingly, the ticket price of Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro will increase by 30% compared to the current one. Meanwhile, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro will increase by 40%.
In order to improve service quality and facilitate people, the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center is about to deploy a multi-modal ticket model (bus and urban railway), allowing passengers to use a single card to travel on many different public transport to attract people to use public transport, contributing to limiting personal vehicles and reducing traffic congestion.
Accordingly, the price of multi-modal inter-modal tickets decreased by about 40% compared to passengers who buy single tickets using the bus and the two metro lines Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station, Cat Linh - Ha Dong; decreased by 10% compared to passengers using the bus and a metro line and received a discount when buying long-term monthly tickets.
The Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center cited that currently, normal passengers (not priority subjects) using monthly tickets for the bus route cost 280,000 VND/month; monthly tickets for Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro (from August 1) are 280,000 VND/month; monthly tickets for Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro (from August 1) are 280,000 VND/month.
If passengers use all 3 routes above without using multi-modal inter-connected tickets, the total amount to be paid is 840,000 VND/month.
However, when applying multi-modal tickets (bus + one metro line), the ticket price will be 500,000 VND/month (if purchasing 2 routes alone, it is 560,000 VND/month), equivalent to a reduction of about 10%.
When passengers use 2 metro and bus routes, the price is only 500,000 VND/month (if purchased separately, the total is 840,000 VND/month), down about 40%.
"Multi-modal and single-modal public passenger transport fares by bus will be applied after the automatic ticket collection system (AFC) in the city is put into operation, the expected implementation time is September 2025", the leader of the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center informed.

For single-mode bus fares, the new option has added daily and weekly tickets and a discount for multi-month tickets (a discount of 3.5% to 6% for tickets purchased from 2 months to 12 months).
To ensure fairness for passengers and pay for the correct travel distance instead of the current single-class tickets, bus fares will also be calculated according to the travel distance of passengers.
Passengers pay from 4,350 VND to 32,000 VND for a distance of 3km to 64km.
In addition, to encourage cashless payments, if passengers pay electronically, they will pay the ticket price corresponding to the distance traveled (from the point up to the point down).
When paying in cash, customers will have to pay with the distance from the point to the end of the route.
"For example, at the A-point, there is a distance to the B-point of 7km and the distance to the end point of route C is 14km. When paying electronically, passengers only have to pay the exact price of 3,000 (opening price) + 7 x 450 (price of 1km) = 6,150 VND.
However, when paying in cash, passengers will have to pay 3,000 (opening price) + 14 x 450 (pricing 1km) = 9,300 VND, rounding up to 10,000 VND", informed the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center.
