On the morning of August 24, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Tran Nam Hung signed and issued an urgent telegram, requesting all levels and sectors to focus on leading, directing, and effectively implementing measures to respond to storm No. 5 with the most urgent and drastic spirit.
According to the Central Hydrometeorological Station, at 7:00 a.m. the same day, the center of storm No. 5 (international name Kajiki) was in the northwest sea of Hoang Sa Special Zone, about 600km from Ha Tinh. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 12, gusting to level 15 and is moving west at a speed of about 20km/h. It is forecasted that from August 24, the wind in the sea area of Da Nang city will gradually increase to level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, waves 2-4m high, and rough seas.
From August 24-26, the city will have showers and thunderstorms, with total rainfall ranging from 40-100mm, in some places over 130mm.
Following the direction of the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Directors of departments, branches, sectors and Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards to absolutely not be negligent, be subjective, and proactively take response measures at the highest level to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
The ship ban came into effect on August 24, 2025.
Units assigned to urgently review plans, be ready to evacuate and relocate people in unsafe areas such as weak houses, low-lying areas, riverside areas, and coastal areas at risk of landslides. The work of protecting agricultural production, supporting people in harvesting, organizing cage anchorage, and aquaculture must be urgently implemented, strictly prohibiting people from staying on cages.
Previously, on the afternoon of August 23, Chairman of the City People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung chaired an online meeting to review response work. According to the report, Da Nang still has 7 fishing vessels in the danger zone and are being contacted and guided on the way. Localities have also prepared plans to evacuate more than 210,000 people in the face of strong storms.
Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that this is a strong storm, requiring units to always be ready, proactively deploy all measures early, ensuring the "four on-site" motto. The armed forces are required to strictly manage means of transport going out to sea, notify ships still operating at sea to proactively prevent. The City Police coordinate with relevant units to ensure security and order, prevent fire and explosion at boat anchorage points, and protect the property of the State and the People.
