Prolonged heavy rain caused the temporary bridge over the Vi River (Tra Lien commune, Da Nang city) to be swept away by floods in the early morning today (March 14). Immediately, local authorities mobilized all forces to overcome the incident, determined to clear the route so that the election day could take place safely and on schedule.
On March 14, Mr. Nguyen Hong Vuong - Chairman of Tra Lien Commune People's Committee (Da Nang City) confirmed: Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain for many days, the water level of the Vi River rose and flowed rapidly, causing the temporary bridge across the river to be completely swept away in the early morning of the same day.


Recorded at the scene, this is a "backbone" traffic route, connecting 4 villages across the river with the commune center. The bridge being damaged right before the election day has posed an urgent problem for local authorities in ensuring the rights of voters and traffic safety.
Immediately after the incident occurred, the functional forces of Tra Lien commune were present in time to blockade both ends of the bridge, install dangerous warning signs, and absolutely not allow people and vehicles to pass. Heavy machinery and manpower were mobilized to the maximum, working through noon with the highest goal of quickly restoring the walkway.
According to the leader of Tra Lien commune, the area across the Vi River currently has 4 constituencies with more than 2,200 voters. To prepare for the big festival tomorrow morning (March 15), all contingency plans have been activated.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Vuong affirmed: "On the other side of the river, there are 4 polling stations belonging to 4 villages. Today, task forces will mobilize to the stations to be in time to organize the early opening ceremony. People at these stations will vote on the spot, without having to move across the river. For voters returning from work far away, functional forces will be on duty, supporting to bring people to safe polling stations by supplementary methods.
By about 11 am this morning, the construction units had reconnected the bridge span, ensuring the most favorable conditions for more than 2,200 voters to exercise their citizen rights.
