On January 20, the Office of Da Nang City People's Committee said that the Cu De riverside traffic route project has been officially approved. According to the approved plan, the project is about 5km long, the starting point intersects with Nam Hai Van bypass and the ending point at the North-South expressway intersection. The route is located in Hai Van ward, designed according to urban road standards with a scale of 4 lanes for motorized vehicles.
The project will build two new bridges on the route, and at the same time synchronously invest in lighting systems, green trees and related technical infrastructure items. The total investment of the project is more than 1,380 billion VND.
It is expected that the project will be implemented in the period from 2025 to 2028. The completion of this road not only helps complete the regional traffic network but also ensures the roadmap for the formation and operation of key functional areas in the North of the city.
The Cu De riverside route is identified as a direct connecting axis to Da Nang Free Trade Zone. This is a new, breakthrough economic model decided by the Prime Minister to be established and announced in June 2025, aimed at attracting investment and promoting innovation.
Da Nang Free Trade Zone has a scale of up to 1,881 ha, distributed in 7 locations. Among them, the first 3 locations are located in Hai Van ward with an area of more than 600 ha, adjacent to the foot of Hai Van Pass, Cu De River, Nam Hai Van bypass, Kim Lien Bay and Lien Chieu Industrial Park.
The remaining locations are allocated in the Ba Na and Hoa Vang areas (with 4th position with an area of 559 ha and 7th position with an area of 401 ha). This model is oriented to develop integrated high technology, digitization, forming a production - service - logistics ecosystem closely linked to urban infrastructure and the national transportation network.
