On the morning of August 12, the People's Council of Da Nang City held the 2nd Session, term 10, term 2021-2026, passing many important resolutions to orient the city's development in the new period. In which, it agreed to adjust socio-economic indicators for the whole year of 2025.
The report at the meeting said that in the first 6 months of 2025, the city's economy recorded positive results. Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by 9.43%, ranking 8th out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide. The economic scale reached 148.8 trillion VND, accounting for 2.5% of the country's GDP. The tourism, trade and services, industry and construction sectors all maintained stable growth momentum. The work of arranging administrative units and operating the government at the two levels after the merger has been effectively implemented, social security and security and order are guaranteed.
However, the context after the merger also poses many challenges, especially difficulties and problems in operating the new government apparatus. To suit the practical situation and create stronger development momentum in the last 6 months of the year, the City People's Council has approved new targets. Accordingly, the annual GRDP growth target is adjusted by 10% or more; average income per capita strives to reach 4,000 to 4,200 USD; and state budget revenue is estimated at over 50 trillion VND.
Before the merger, the old Da Nang City recorded that in the first 6 months of 2025, the GRDP growth rate reached 11.03%, exceeding the set plan (10.4%).
Meanwhile, the leaders of the old Quang Nam province have also directed drastic and synchronous solutions to help the province achieve the growth target of 10%, right before the merger.
Speaking at the session, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council, emphasized the important significance of the session in concretizing major policies after the merger. He affirmed that the goal is to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the two-level government apparatus, creating a solid foundation for sustainable development.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung also called on delegates to promote a sense of responsibility, focus their intelligence to discuss and make feasible decisions, meeting voters' expectations, especially when there is not much time left until the end of the year but the task is extremely urgent.
