This morning (March 28), Da Nang City People's Committee officially announced the completion of the common infrastructure part and launched the Project to invest in the overall construction of Lien Chieu Port container wharf. This is an important milestone, opening the door to make Da Nang a international logistics center.
The project to invest in the construction of Lien Chieu port (common infrastructure part) has a total investment of more than 3,426 billion VND from the central and local budgets. After 1,200 days of urgent construction since December 2022, the project has officially reached the finish line.
Important completed items include: 1,170m long seawall and dyke; channel system, water area; traffic road connecting 6 lanes (30m wide) and synchronous electrical and water technical infrastructure.
The coastal road project connecting Lien Chieu port with a total capital of more than 1,203 billion VND has also been technically opened to traffic on the entire route. This nearly 3km long route plays a direct connection role between the port and the national transportation system, creating smooth traffic for goods transportation.
At the ceremony, Da Nang City People's Committee launched the Project to invest in the overall construction of Lien Chieu container port. This is a "super project" with an investment scale of more than 45.268 billion VND, aiming for green port standards and international transshipment.
The selected investor is the Joint Venture of Hateco Group Joint Stock Company - Hateco Seaport Co., Ltd. - APM Terminals B.V. (Netherlands). The project will build an overall of 8 container terminals, expected after 3 years of operation of phase 1, the volume of goods passing through will reach about 4 million TEUs/year. The project implementation time lasts nearly 10 years with a operating term of 50 years.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee emphasized that the completion of shared infrastructure and the opening of connecting roads is a milestone of historical significance.
This is an important premise to realize the vision of making Da Nang a major logistics center of the region and internationally. Lien Chieu Port not only reduces the load on Tien Sa port, relieves inner-city traffic pressure, but is also a "lever" to promote investment in industrial parks, high-tech parks and free trade zones of the city," Mr. An affirmed.
