Alarm bells from the construction site
From August to the end of November 2026, Da Nang city will establish an inspection team to inspect the compliance with regulations on occupational safety and health at 18 enterprises and production and business establishments.
Functional agencies will review occupational safety and health management records; training for employers and employees; management and use of machinery, equipment, and materials with strict safety requirements.
This is a thematic inspection on occupational safety and health throughout the area in 2026 - taking place in the context that labor accidents in Da Nang are still complicated, especially in the field of construction and machinery operation.

Most recently, on the evening of May 11, 2026, at the drainage system renovation and cable undergrounding project on Le Loi street, Hai Chau ward, a wall of a coffee shop suddenly collapsed, crushing workers who were constructing the sidewalk. The 43-year-old victim died. After the incident, the scene area was fenced off and construction was temporarily suspended to serve the investigation.
Previously, on the afternoon of January 13, 2026, a 41-year-old female construction worker had an accident at a construction site on Da Son street, Hoa Khanh ward. While operating a winch on the 5th floor, the woman fell to the ground and died.
On October 23, 2025, at the Hiyori Aqua Tower apartment project in Son Tra ward, the reinforced cable of the tower crane broke, causing the crane to break and hit a steelworker working on the 2nd floor. The victim died on the spot.
The incidents show that a serious accident can happen in just a few seconds, but the consequences are irreparable losses for the worker's family.
This is also the reason why the inspection needs to go deep into the actual working conditions, instead of just confirming that the enterprise has sufficient dossiers or equipment that has been inspected" - a representative of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs emphasized.
Do not let safety procedures remain on paper
According to data from the Da Nang City Department of Home Affairs, in 2025, the whole city recorded 240 labor accidents, causing 252 victims; of which 10 people died and 38 people were seriously injured.
In the total number of cases, 28.3% were identified as related to employer errors, 61.3% due to employee errors and 10.4% due to objective causes. Accidents are concentrated in high-risk industries such as mining, processing industry, manufacturing and construction.
Some of the reasons pointed out include workers not using personal protective equipment, violating procedures; businesses lacking training, not building safe working measures or using equipment that does not meet requirements.

Therefore, through the thematic inspection, the city focuses on the responsibility of both employers and employees. Risks at machinery, scaffolding, axles, excavation pits, elevated works or construction areas close to people's houses need to be identified and handled before incidents occur.
Notably, inspection activities do not only stop at papers, certificates or procedures established on dossiers. The inspection team will directly go to the workplace to assess the implementation of measures to prevent accidents and protect workers' health" - according to a representative of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs.
The ultimate goal of the inspection is not only to detect violations, but also to create changes in each workplace, so that workers can return home safely after each production shift.
