Talking to Lao Dong on July 7, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, said that after selecting and announcing 5 typical options for the symbol of Da Nang City (logo) on the city's electronic information portal, to get people's opinions, many contributions have been received.
Among them, there are also many good and valuable rebuttals and there are also "retrograde" opinions. Therefore, after the public announcement and public opinion collection period this time (from July 3 to the end of July 9, 2026), the Organizing Committee and the Arts Council will report to the City People's Committee, ask for opinions - it is possible to postpone the selection and recognition of the winning plan this time.
If necessary, the city will organize another conference, widely inviting researchers, cultural and historical experts, intellectuals, and leading officials with experience in this field... to listen to and receive contributions and thorough criticism before making a final decision.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi also added that the organization of the Da Nang logo design contest is within the plan, with a very specific roadmap, in accordance with state regulations. However, also because there are many opposing opinions, and with a spirit of receptiveness, with the desire to have a meaningful logo, sufficient to the new city, the Organizing Committee once postponed it, raising the value of the award.
This time, the Organizing Committee received 1,097 works from 560 authors participating in the contest. Many authors and groups of authors from home and abroad participated. The Arts Council has also changed, with 6/9 members being professionals. The selection of 5 typical options, announced on the city's electronic information portal to get people's opinions is in line with the roadmap and plan. And opposing opinions, rebuttals, even extreme praise and criticism... are also normal, showing that people are really interested.
Ms. Anh Thi also shared that even the logo of Hanoi (Khue Van Cat) has been implemented for more than 3 years before the final plan was finalized (from 1997 - 1999); the logo of Hoi An was implemented from 2000, and only in 2005 the best plan was selected. Da Nang will also not rush to choose if it does not have the best plan, which is highly agreed upon by experts and people.
