Bao Yen District Party Secretary Hoang Quoc Bao said that according to the latest update, forces have found 43 bodies of victims of the flash flood.
"There are still 52 people missing, the prognosis is bad because there is no more contact," said Mr. Bao.
According to the Secretary of Bao Yen District Party Committee, after the flash flood on the morning of September 10, only 46 people in Lang Nu village were safe.
Present at the scene of the Voi Mountain landslide, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong and the commander of the search force of Military Region 2 came to survey the downstream area, where two bodies of flash flood victims had just been discovered.
Here, the plan agreed upon by the commanders was to focus on searching the downstream area - which was identified as a low-lying area where many bodies could be concentrated.
It is believed that this point is blocked by a concrete road, preventing things from being washed away by the flood downstream, so there is a possibility that many bodies are stuck here.
Brigadier General Nguyen Dang Khai, Deputy Commander and Chief of Military Region 2, directed the forces to "clean up as they go", find more tools to rake, dig, and remove trash, wood, and tree trunks to serve the search.
According to observations, above is the Elephant Mountain range and protective forest. Military Region 2 deployed 300 officers of Regiment 98 (Division 316) along with 125 soldiers of the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command and militia and people to participate in the search and rescue.
The Border Guard used sniffer dogs to search for the victim's body. The forces deployed a large-scale search in the landslide area and downstream.
