On November 4, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee continued to request departments, branches and localities to proactively deploy response plans to the storm approaching the East Sea and floods that may affect the area.
According to the forecast, storm Kalmaegi is likely to enter the East Sea around November 5 and become storm No. 13, with an intensity that can reach above level 12 when in the Truong Sa archipelago.
It is forecasted that around November 7, the storm is likely to directly affect the area from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa, causing heavy rain from the night of November 6 to 9.
Currently, the western area of Dak Lak province has 13 points at risk of landslides, easily causing isolation when storms occur. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation to promptly handle it, ensuring the safety of people when an incident occurs.
The Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects in the Eastern Region has also directed contractors to urgently deploy plans to ensure safety for people, equipment and works under construction. Especially in projects with sea embankments, river embankments and areas at risk of landslides.
The authorities also monitor and protect key projects under construction along the coast. Including My Quang Nam sea embankment; anti-erosion embankment, Da Dien sea gate filling; Vinh Phu embankment...
Mr. Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, said: "Given the complicated developments of storms and floods, people need to proactively harvest agricultural products according to the motto "green at home, greener at home".
People should harvest the aquaculture area that has reached the commercial size to minimize damage.
According to Mr. Van, the authorities are implementing a guiding plan to ensure safe traffic for people and vehicles in areas with deep flooding, fast-flowing water and a risk of landslides.
The Provincial Border Guard is also actively informing and propagating to ship owners to clearly understand the dangerous locations, instructing ships to move to avoid the storm and enter safe anchorage areas.
At the same time, coordinate with local police and authorities to urgently mobilize forces and means, ready for rescue when necessary.
