On July 8, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee issued a document requesting the Provincial Police, Department of Agriculture and Environment, and People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen inspection, handling, and prevention of illegal mineral exploitation in the area.
Especially illegal gold mining activities in the Buon Ly area, Song Hinh commune. According to Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, the directive was issued after the province received Official Dispatch No. 1960 of the Vietnam Department of Geology and Minerals on inspecting and handling the situation of illegal gold mining in the area.
Based on the proposal of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Dak Lak province requests functional agencies to urgently implement many solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, protect untapped mineral resources and promptly rectify and handle violations.
For the Provincial Police, the Provincial People's Committee proposed to soon organize inspections, verification and strictly handle according to the provisions of law for organizations and individuals related to illegal gold mining and processing acts in Buon Ly, Song Hinh commune.
After handling, the Provincial Police must inform the results, and at the same time advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider and direct the handling of violating organizations and individuals if any.
Notably, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van also requested Song Hinh commune to have specific and long-term solutions to rectify mineral protection work, not to let the situation of illegal gold mining recur in Buon Ly as well as in the managed area.
The implementation results must be reported to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Department of Agriculture and Environment) before July 15, 2026.
The Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue to strengthen inspection and supervision, coordinate with relevant agencies to monitor and urge the implementation of the above tasks; summarize the results, advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct handling according to the provisions of law, and promptly report to the Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam as required.
