On June 14, information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province said that the unit had just held a conference to summarize the year of the durian crop in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025, emphasizing the need to say no to banned substances.
The whole province currently has 38,800 hectares of durian, of which 22,000 hectares have been harvested. The expected output in 2025 is about 400,000 tons, an increase of 100,000 tons compared to 2024.
The province has 266 growing areas with 7,400 hectares, accounting for 40% of the harvested area. Dak Lak currently has 39 facilities that have been granted packaging codes for fresh durian and 11 units for frozen durian for export.
The locality has also registered trademarks for the districts: "Krong Pac durian", "Cu M'gar durian" and "Krong Buk durian" to enhance the value of the product.

At the conference, functional sectors, experts, and businesses frankly discussed the outstanding issues of the durian industry. In particular, the treatment of Cadimi and O-older in durian as well as providing drastic solutions for action.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak, said that the conference was held in the context that durian in the province will have 3 months left to harvest.
Meanwhile, in recent times, the export of durian has encountered difficulties. The reason is that China - Vietnam's largest durian consumer market - tightens regulations on testing banned substances.
Mr. Ha said that recently, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment chaired a durian conference in Buon Ma Thuot City and issued important instructions.
In particular, the Ministry assigned the Ministry's units to develop a project to develop a special durian key area in Dak Lak province.
After that, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to implement the program " Say no to banned substances" to ensure that there are no orders contaminated with cadimi and O gold.
The Department has proposed solutions including testing inventory, building a value chain with the participation of reputable enterprises and cooperatives.
The relevant parties will cooperate closely, conduct quality control and sign a product purchase contract.
Dak Lak province is determined not to return any shipments exported to China due to contamination with banned substances.
To do this, Mr. Ha emphasized the importance of improving product quality and developing durian brands.
At the same time, Mr. Ha called on farmers to take action to solve the challenge and affirmed that durian is the main commodity.
