On October 15, information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province - the standing agency for natural disaster prevention and control of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue - said that since the beginning of the year, there have been 13 natural disasters in the area.
Of which, there were 7 heavy rains, floods, inundation and 6 thunderstorms, whirlwinds, lightning, hail, seriously affecting people's lives, with a total estimated damage value of more than 119 billion VND.
The natural disaster damaged 18 houses, 84 houses were flooded, 15 schools were affected (including 8 damaged classrooms), and more than 1,200m of fence collapsed.
Regarding agricultural production, the whole province has more than 4,000 hectares of all kinds of crops damaged, including 3,881 hectares of rice, 60 hectares of corn and crops, 197 hectares of industrial crops and perennial fruit trees. In addition, natural disasters also killed 38 cattle and swept away 670 poultry.
Many canals, irrigation works, schools, rural water supply works and traffic routes (mainly dirt roads) were eroded and severely damaged, making it difficult for transportation and production. Floods also increase landslides on riverbanks and stream banks in many areas.
Currently, the province is mobilizing local resources to urgently overcome the situation, but the amount of damage is large, exceeding the local budget balance capacity.
The Provincial People's Committee has submitted a document to the Prime Minister and central ministries and branches requesting consideration and funding support to overcome the consequences, soon stabilize people's lives and production.
