On the morning of February 28, during the preparation for organizing the Thai Duong village (Thuan An ward, Hue city) traditional fishing festival, a boat capsized near the Thuan An fishing port area, killing 2 people.
According to local information, at about 7 am on the same day, the Ward People's Committee received a report that a boat capsized about 500m from the festival area. Immediately after that, the government stopped festival activities to mobilize forces and rescue vehicles.
About 30 minutes later, functional forces and people recovered 2 victims in a state of death.
The victim's identity was identified as Ms. V.T. B (25 years old) and her child L.V. G. P (3 years old), both residing in the old Hai Duong commune. Ms. B stayed at home as a housewife, taking care of her young child.
At the time of the incident, the traditional boat race had not taken place as planned.
At about 8:15 am on the same day, city leaders and local authorities visited, encouraged, and shared the loss with the victim's family.
The cause of the incident is being investigated and clarified by the police agency.
