In the afternoon of March 31, information from Ta Phin Commune People's Committee, functional agencies have identified the identity of the man who jumped from Mong Sen bridge in the early morning of the same day.
Accordingly, the victim is Thao A Chao, born in 1999, residing in Chu Va 12 village, Tam Duong commune, Lai Chau province.

Previously, as Lao Dong newspaper reported, at about 2:15 am on the same day, Ta Phin Commune Police received a report from people about a man standing next to a motorbike near the Mong Sen bridge railing, showing signs of suicide.
Immediately after that, functional forces were present at the scene, organized to approach, mobilize, and persuade. However, the man did not cooperate, repeatedly climbing onto the railing when someone approached.

At about 2:40 am, this person suddenly jumped down below, dying on the spot.
Currently, functional agencies are clarifying the cause of the incident.
Started in early 2020, Mong Sen bridge is an elevated bridge (not spanning the river) belonging to the project connecting the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway to Sa Pa town, aiming to reduce traffic pressure for the arterial route National Highway 4D.
With the head pier of Mong Sen bridge 83m high from the ground, Mong Sen bridge is currently the highest elevated bridge with the highest pier in Vietnam.
Since being put into use, in this case, functional forces have recorded at least 7 cases of jumping off Mong Sen bridge to commit suicide.
