As Lao Dong newspaper has reported, the investment project to build Van Phuc bridge across the Red River was started on August 19, 2025.
The project has a total investment including site clearance of about 3,443 billion VND; construction costs of 2,613 billion VND - invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The starting point of the route intersects with National Highway 32, Phuc Tho commune; the ending point of the route continues with the traffic route project connecting from the left dike of the Red River to Van Phuc bridge (the administrative boundary between Hanoi and Phu Tho).
The project has a construction scale of a road with a length of 7.77km, designed according to grade III plain road standards, design speed of 80 km/h.
After Van Phuc bridge is completed, instead of having to rely on ferries or take long detours, people from the Northwest Hanoi area across the Red River to Phu Tho (and vice versa) will have their travel time significantly shortened.
Along with that, the bridge creates an economic corridor, making it easy to transport agricultural products, building materials and goods. The bridge will share traffic flow for existing roads and other main bridge axes.
In particular, the bridge will expand the development space, attract investment, improve real estate value and improve socio-economic life for people along both banks of the Red River.
In Phu Tho province, component project 2: Investment in construction of the traffic route connecting from the left dyke of the Red River to Van Phuc bridge has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee from April 9, 2026, according to Decision No. 1119/QD-UBND.
This project belongs to group B, with a total investment of nearly 985 billion VND invested by the Vinh Phuc Regional Project Management Board (Phu Tho province).
According to the reporter's investigation, on August 3, the Vinh Phuc Regional Project Management Board issued a notice inviting bids for the "Construction + Equipment" package of the project.
The above bidding package is widely bid through the network, with a value of more than 870 billion VND from: Provincial-level public investment capital for the period 2021 - 2025 (4.300 million VND); provincial budget public investment capital for the period 2026 - 2030 (999.145 million VND).
In the near future, after completing the contractor selection work, the winning bidder will deploy the construction of a road with a total length of about 2.12km connecting from the left dyke of the Red River to Van Phuc bridge, located in Lien Chau commune, Phu Tho province.

The starting point of the route is at Km7+760 (Lien Chau commune), connecting to the ending point of the Van Phuc bridge construction project across the Red River and the connecting road to National Highway 32 invested by the Hanoi City People's Committee. The ending point is about Km9+880, belonging to the left dike of the Red River (Lien Chau commune).
This is a large-scale road project with a main line of 23.5m wide (4 lanes for motorized vehicles, each lane 3.5m wide; 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles each lane 3m wide...), combined with a 5.0m wide auxiliary service road and a 20.5m wide approach bridge. Design speed 80km/h.
The maximum completion time of the bidding package is 15 months from the date the contract takes effect.
According to the investor, the goal of the project is to gradually complete the transportation system according to the approved plan; create an additional traffic route connecting Phu Tho province with Hanoi Capital across the Red River.
The road will serve the needs of goods circulation, production and travel needs of people; promote socio-economic development connection between Phu Tho province and Hanoi and provinces in the Capital region, the key economic region of the North.
