On July 21, Dong Nai City Police are continuing to coordinate with relevant units to investigate and clarify the cause of the sleeper bus fire that killed 7 people.
According to initial information, at about 10 pm on July 20, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai (born in 1985, residing in Khanh Hoa province) was driving a sleeper bus with license plate 50E-447. 02 carrying 37 passengers and 1 assistant driver traveling from Khanh Hoa to Ho Chi Minh City.

At about 2 am on July 21, when traveling to Km1839 National Highway 1A in Hung Thinh commune, due to the driver being sleepy and steering to avoid vehicles in front, the car collided with the right side of the road. After the collision, the undercarriage area near the fuel tank caught fire fiercely, the fire quickly engulfed the entire vehicle.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police Team of Region 5 dispatched 2 fire trucks and 12 officers and soldiers to the scene to fight the fire and rescue victims. By 2:40 am, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished.

The accident killed 7 people, some were injured, and the passenger car was completely burned. Initial test results determined that the driver was negative for drugs, and there was no alcohol concentration in his breath.
The initial cause was determined to be that the driver was sleepy and lost control of the steering wheel, leading to a collision and fire in the undercarriage area.
Inspecting at the scene, Chairman of Dong Nai City People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut requested the City Police and functional units to urgently examine the scene, investigate and clarify the cause of the accident; focus on overcoming the consequences, ensuring smooth traffic and handling the case in accordance with the law.
