On the morning of September 20, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that the unit had just issued a document requesting the Vietnam Road Administration to continue dividing lanes and traffic flow on 8 sections of the 4-lane expressway, with continuous emergency stopping strips, with a maximum traffic speed of 100-120km/h.
The sections and routes include: Da Nang - Quang Ngai (Km 0 - Km 131+500); Hai Phong - Mong Cai (Km 0 - Km 175); Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay (Km 4 - Km 54+983); Phan Thiet - Dau Giay (Km 0 - Km 99); Cau Gie - Cao Bo (Km 211+260 - Km 259+200); Bac Giang - Lang Son (Km 45+100 - Km 109+660); Hanoi - Lao Cai (Km 0+400 - Km 123); Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong (Km 10 - Km 49+800).
Adjust the speed in the direction of increasing the minimum speed in lane 1 ( sating the median strip) from 60km/h to 80km/h.
Organize lane division of vehicles on these routes as follows:
Route 1 (close to the median strip) will have a maximum speed of 120km/h, a minimum speed of 80km/h or a maximum of 100km/h, a minimum of 80km/h for trucks, trucks under 7.5 tons, and passenger cars with less than 30 seats.
Route 2 (close to emergency lanes) with a maximum speed of 100km/h and a minimum speed of 60km/h for mixed-use vehicles. Trucks with a capacity of 7.5 tons or more and passenger vans with more than 30 seats will travel in this lane.
The Traffic Police Department also proposed organizing lane division right at toll stations, creating fixed lanes specifically for priority vehicles, cars, passenger cars, trucks... in accordance with the lane division of vehicles on the route.
At the same time, the Department requested the addition of road signs to implement the above vehicle lane division and immediately overcome some shortcomings and unreasonable traffic organization.
According to the Traffic Police Department, the proposal, based on the initial pilot results on the Phap Van - Cau Gie, Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway, shows efficiency, creates more open lanes, receives the consensus and support of the people and limits traffic accidents.
The Traffic Police Department has begun to propagate and instruct drivers to participate in traffic since September 18.
