On August 2, according to PV's investigation, Son La Provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan to review and complete the conditions and criteria to propose the recognition of provincial-level tourist areas for Ngoc Chien and Pha Din.
According to the roadmap, Ngoc Chien Tourist Area strives to be recognized in 2027, while Pha Din Tourist Area is expected to be completed in 2030.
According to the plan, departments, branches and localities will focus on reviewing tourism resources, determining the boundaries of tourist areas, completing transportation, electricity, water, telecommunications infrastructure, improving the quality of accommodation, food services, shopping and signage systems.
At the same time, the province promotes the development of community tourism products, preserves traditional cultural values, applies smart tourism and strengthens promotion and advertising of destinations.
For the location in Ngoc Chien commune, the dossier requesting recognition of the provincial-level tourist area will be completed in 2027 for organization of appraisal and submission to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision.
In Pha Din, the dossier is expected to be built in 2029, organized for year-end appraisal and announced the recognition decision in the first quarter of 2030.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over the implementation of the plan, coordinate with departments, branches, and localities to review and complete criteria, build dossiers and organize appraisal.
The implementation costs are allocated from the state budget according to decentralization, and at the same time mobilize socialized resources to gradually make Ngoc Chien and Pha Din attractive tourist destinations of Son La.
Pha Din Pass is one of the "four great passes" of the Northwest region, located on National Highway 6, connecting Son La province with Dien Bien province. With an altitude of more than 1,000 m above sea level, the pass is famous for its winding roads between majestic mountains and forests, year-round cool climate and many impressive sightseeing spots.
Not only possessing landscape value, Pha Din is also a place associated with the historical mark in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954, attracting a large number of tourists to visit, experience and learn about the culture and history of the Northwest region.
